Position Title: Ranch Hand
Location: BRC Ranch, Boling, Texas
Reports to: Ranch Manager
Supervises: None
Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with alternating weekends (approximately 2 weekends per month).
Position Overview: Ranch hands play a hands-on role in supporting the daily operations of BRC Ranch. This individual will assist with cattle care, ranch facility maintenance, fencing, hay production, hauling, and general livestock management. The goal of this role is to provide consistent, reliable labor for the day-to-day needs of the ranch, ensuring that leadership and genetics staff can focus on customer service, sales, and high-level program development.
- Livestock Care & Handling
- Feed, water, and monitor the health and wellbeing of cattle.
- Assist with calving, branding, dehorning, and routine herd work.
- Handle cattle in a low-stress manner, including moving, sorting, and penning.
- Hauling & Transportation
- Safely haul cattle to veterinary facilities, show barns, and sale facilities
- Assist with animal pickups/deliveries following sales or customer arrangements.
- Facility & Equipment Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness of barns, pens, and working facilities.
- Operate and maintain ranch equipment such as tractors, trailers, and loaders.
- Perform basic repairs and upkeep to ensure safe, functional facilities.
- Mowing, weedeating, occasional painting.
- Event & Sale Support
- Assist with cattle preparation for sales, shows, and ranch tours.
- Help load/unload cattle, set up facilities, and provide logistical support during major events.
Position Qualifications and Requirements:
- 3+ years with ranch, livestock, or agricultural experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate trucks, trailers, tractors, and ranch equipment.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to take direction.
- Physically able to lift 50+ lbs, work outdoors.
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license (CDL preferred but not required).
- Clean cut, well mannered, professionally dressed when representing the ranch.
- Willing to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Work Environment
The position is approximately 98% outdoor work.
