File Naming

Consistent file naming and file structure is imperative to organization in our agency due to the number of files we work with. All file naming and saving must follow this structure with no exceptions.

All of your files should be housed either on the server, Google Drive, or Dropbox. This way all staff members can access them. Don’t save files on your computer hard drive while you are working on them and then move them. Always work off the server, Dropbox or Drive.

Capitalize first words of all letters. No spaces, use dashes or underscores if necessary.

Each client has a folder within the “CLIENTS” folder. Within the clients folder there are multiple sub-folders.

OriginalsWhere we save all high res photos originally provided by client. This would be only for HIGH RES photos and would be one folder with all client photos inside, named PREFERABLY by the name of the animal, or if that does not exist it’s win title. This folder would be used by both print/web people to add high res photos.
PrintAnything printed like ads, catalogs, signs, business cards. Within print the projects are broken down into subfolders by year, then within the year folder, project type. Within each individual print project folder, there will be subfolders labeled as originals, proofs, to-client, to-social media.
WebWithin the web folder, you will find Headers, Images, Sliders, Widgets
